Luckily, there’s no standard uniform necessary when unicycling. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes that are securely tied on your feet. Flip-flops or other types of sandals are not the best idea. Make sure to wear pants that are not too loose, as they may get caught in the wheel. Other than that, just wear clothing appropriate for the weather and temperature. Consider some of the following options:

  • T-shirts, polyester shirts, jerseys, sweatshirts, or fitted tank
  • Layering info:

    • Base layering: pieces include bras, briefs, tights and shirts.
    • Middle/insulating layering: The insulating layer refers to the layer of clothing that goes over your jersey or short, and is designed to keep you warm. Styles usually include fleece tops and vests. Insulating layers should be made of warm, lightweight fabrics such as technical fleeces and wools. Fabrics should breathe well so that sweat and body heat escape, keeping the cyclist warm and dry. Most insulating materials come in various weights, which impact the degree of warmth they offer. These garments should have a loose fit for good freedom of movement, but they should also fit under outerwear without bunching.

  • Weather proof outer layering, such as a waterproof rain jacket
  • Warm up jacket or hoodie
  • Sports bra (for women)
  • Fleece pants, warm-up pants, men’s cold weather tight, or spandex tights
  • Cycling socks
  • Cycling gloves or half-fingered gloves for summer cycling
  • Sweatbands
  • Cycling shoes
  • Cap, visor, beanie, or helmet
  • Sunglasses
